Located in the center of the vibrant café hub of Flinders Lane in Melbourne, Grand Mercure Apartments commissioned Coco Republic Interior Design to create an inviting lobby, which drew nuances from the locality, complimenting the distinct architecture of the building. Focus was placed on redesigning the space not just from a decorative point of view but also detailing in terms of finishes and fixtures. The team drew inspiration from the boutique hotel’s heritage and original architectural features implementing a harmonious palette of charcoal, taupe, blue and bone. The scheme was reworked to enable multiple settings to exist, which translated into a space that caters to a diverse cross section of guest’s needs and requirements. The areas were specified into different zones: a lounge featuring plush upholstered sofas and armchairs, a business hub for privacy utilising a hardwood ash shelving unit with drop down desk, and a conference space showcasing a hardwood meeting table and luxurious leather upholstered occasional chairs.
